Recent property sales in Town of Washington and Village of Millbrook
3196 Franklin Ave., located on the edge of the Village of Millbrook, is a single-story brick and stone two-bedroom home built in 1962 on a .43-acre lot. The home sold for $470,000 according to Dutchess Parcel Access, well above its previous sale price of $330,000 in July 2018.

The Millerton News will periodically publish a listing of residential real estate sales in eastern Dutchess County and adjacent towns.

 

September was a relatively busy month, with closings on six properties in the Village of Millbrook and the Town of Washington. With the exception of the sale of the estate on Shunpike for $3.2 million, homes sold in a broad range, from $310,000 to $975,000 for a modest home on Valley Farm Road with an orchard on 18 acres and a view of the Catskills. 

While there are only a few houses for sale in the village, the Town of Washington has almost 20 houses priced over $1 million, including a seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom house on 309 Woodstock Road listed at  $28 million.

3716-3718 Route 44, 3-bedroom, 1-bath home with 2 parcels on 0.87 acre, sold for $650,000

221-231 Shunpike, 6-bedroom, 5.5-bath house and guest lodge on 20 acres with a lighted tennis court and pool, sold for $3.2 million

Thai tea shop venture delayed over septic approvals

MILLERTON — The opening of a proposed Thai tea shop on Main Street has been delayed while owners await approval from the Dutchess County Department of Health.

John Schildbach, who plans to open the shop with his wife, Kanchisar Jiradhanaiphat, in the former Candy-O’s space, said plans to include seating have complicated the approval process because of the building’s existing septic system.

Anita L. Gochey

Anita L. Gochey

CANAAN — Anita L. (King) Gochey, 85, of 77 South Canaan Rd. died June 5, 2026, at Geer Village. She was the wife of the late Lester Gochey. Anita was born July 16, 1940,in Winsted, daughter of the late Ivan and Irene (Dulude) King.

Anita was well known throughout the Northwest Corner. She worked for many local businesses and organizations. Anita worked at the Rexall Drug Store, C.A. Lindell and Sons, Bob’s Clothing, Brooks Pharmacy, and the Housatonic Valley Regional High School in the cafeteria.She used her skills in calligraphy to complete the record books for the North Canaan Congregational Church.Anita’s daughter remembers her as being very creative with cardboard, and a loving mom.
