$100,000 Matching Grant to Support Your Community News

We have defied the odds!

Thanks to your generosity, The Lakeville Journal and The Millerton News remain very much alive, and thriving as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Our papers – and websites – are helping to lead the way for a resurgence of community journalism across America.

But our work is far from over. We need more reporters and editors to keep the papers and our newly-launched online sites full of the community news you depend on.

I am pleased to report that our board members have pledged $100,000 to match donations made over the next two months. Your donation will be doubled between now and June 30. The money raised will enable us to hire the reporters and staff to continue to build a modern newsroom.

In keeping with our mission of helping readers make more informed and inspired decisions, news on our websites is now open and available to all and your donation will help keep it that way.

This past year our reporters have provided essential coverage on a wide range of important stories including Sharon Hospital, threats to our local lakes, elections, bank mergers and business openings and closings. Plus, where else can you find the police blotter, high school sports results, gardening advice and the latest on our area’s robust cultural scene?

We are two of the oldest independent local newspapers in the country, and our ambition is to remain two of the best.
