Millerton receives $150,000 grant for sidewalk improvements

MILLERTON — Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino announced the County’s 2024 Community Development Block Grant will give the Village of Millerton $150,000 to improve the Veteran’s Park sidewalk.

The Village of Millerton was one of 20 projects that were part of the grant program and HOME Investment Partnership Program, which granted over $2.8 million to different communities. The goal of these grants is to remove obstacles to accessibility for seniors and assess infrastructure needs in these communities.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides CDBG and HOME Investment Partnership Program funding, which ideally helps community development projects and housing needs.

The money for the Village will fund the reconstruction of approximately 200 linear feet of sidewalk on the north side of Main Street, with the gathering area in front of Veterans Park to be repaved. The CDBG municipal projects totaled $1.056 million, including the city of Beacon, the town of Clinton, the Town of Dover, the Village of Tivoli, Dutchess County and the Village of Millerton.
