MILLERTON — Beverly M. Scutieri, 89, a fifty-four-year resident of Millerton, New York, died peacefully at her home in Millerton on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Scutieri had a long career in banking with Chase Manhattan Bank in Millerton prior to her retirement. She also served two terms on the Village Board in Millerton many years ago.

Born in Elizabethtown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Hazel (Straight) Cole. On July 26, 1958 in Mount Vernon, New York, she married Alfonso P. Scutieri, Jr. Mr. Scutieri passed away in 2017.

Mrs. Scutieri enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately named her “G-Bev.” She also really enjoyed spending weekends in the Adirondacks with her loving sisters for many years. She will be dearly missed by her devoted family and many dear friends.

Mrs. Scutieri is survived by her two sons, John Scutieri and his wife Sheila of Millerton and Michael Scutieri and his wife Beth of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; her sister, Cheryl Norton; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Sheldon and Jean Straight.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate. Burial will follow at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton. SHARON – Despite months of speculation fueled by half-empty shelves, inventory shortages and the planned departures of two longtime businesses, Sharon Farm Market is not closing, according to owner Chris Choe.

“We’re not shutting down,” Choe said, adding that he and his wife, Kim, are planning a series of upgrades they hope will transform the market over the coming months. Choe said they expect to receive a new 20-year lease from the property’s landlords and are moving forward with plans to revitalize the business.

Millerton approves $6.1M bid 
for Eddie Collins park pool

Eddie Collins Memorial Park on Route 22 in Millerton has seen major renovations in recent years. The next phase of renovations will see a pool and poolhouse that will double as a community gathering space.

MILLERTON — The new pool at Eddie Collins Memorial Park is moving forward after village trustees approved the first construction bid for the project.

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept a bid from Key Construction totalling $6.1 million for site work and general construction on Tuesday, May 26.

Amenia affordable housing subdivision moves closer to environmental approval

AMENIA — The Planning Board moved closer to completing the environmental review of the proposed Cascade Creek subdivision during its regular meeting on Wednesday, May 27, agreeing to consider a formal environmental determination at its June meeting.

The discussion centered on completion of the Environmental Assessment Form, a key component of the project’s review under New York’s State Environmental Quality Review Act.

Yerger Johnstone

SHARON — Yerger Johnstone, former managing director in the mergers and acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley and a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, died on April 19, 2026, in Chelmsford, England. He was 86.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, on March 7, 1940, Mr. Johnstone was the son of architect Henry Inge Johnstone, architect, and Kathleen Yerger Johnstone, the noted nature writer and civic leader after whom Alabama’s state seashell, Johnstone’s Junonia, is named. He graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile in 1958, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of the South at Sewanee in 1962, and earned his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1964.

Son of the late Robert and Leona (Heinbockel) Stover, Rick was born Feb. 6, 1944 in Edina, Minnesota. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he majored in Economics and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
