AMENIA — After more than a year of public meetings and planning, the Amenia Recreation Commission will unveil plans for two town park areas at its regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Town Hall.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend to view the plans and offer comments.

Described as the final Recreation Master Plan, Jane Didona of Didona Associates, landscape architects located in Danbury, Connecticut, will present the plans for both the Amenia Green project proposed for land surrounding the Town Hall, and the Wassaic Park project to be developed in the village of Wassaic.

Both projects are seen as a means of enhancing recreational opportunities within the town of Amenia.

Enthusiastic about the progress, Paul Winters, former chair of the Recreation Commission, said that now that plans are reaching final stages, the town will be able to apply for grant funding as early as this summer.

Also during the meeting, students from the Webutuck Leadership Program will offer a presentation on how their school’s program could help with promotion of the projects, as well as having students provide volunteer assistance with fundraising events.
