Dutchess County Sheriff's Report

The following information was provided by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office as the Harlem Valley area activity report for Oct. 19-25.

 

Oct. 20 — Deputies  responded to 4372 Route 22 (Metro North Train Station) in Amenia in an effort to locate a stolen vehicle that may have been abandoned in the parking lot. Vehicle initially reported stolen to the Metro North Police Department. Stolen vehicle located in the parking lot.  Metro North police responded and continued with the investigation.

 

Oct. 21 — Deputies responded to 49 Powder House Road in Amenia for a criminal mischief complaint. The caller reported that an unknown suspect(s) paintballed his Halloween decorations and residence overnight causing damage. Investigation ongoing.

 

Oct. 22 — Deputies responded to Route 199 near the intersection with Schultz Hill Road in Pine Plains for a reported disabled vehicle at that location. Investigation resulted in the arrest of James Eaton, 21, for driving while intoxicated. Eaton to appear in the Town of Pine Plains Court at a later date.    

 

Oct. 24 — Deputies responded to 14 Prospect Ave. in the Town of Amenia for a sister vs. sister domestic dispute. Matter investigated without further police intervention.

All persons arrested and charged are alleged to have committed the crime and are presumed innocent until proven guilty and are to appear in local courts later.

MILLERTON — The Village of Millerton is inviting residents and businesses to enter its annual house decorating contest, with judging now underway through Dec. 28.

Awards will be presented in several categories, including Best Lights, Most Creative, Best Overall and Best Commercial Front.

Celtic holiday concert returning to Amenia

AMENIA — Fast becoming a local holiday tradition, the Amenia Town Recreation Department is presenting a free concert by the Upstate Celtic Allstars on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Amenia Town Hall Auditorium, beginning at 2 p.m.

The five-member Celtic Allstars ensemble will rouse the audience to holiday cheer with a varied program of holiday tunes and rhythmic dance numbers. Appearing in the ensemble are Vermont’s Claudine Langille, vocals and banjo; Dave Paton, hammer dulcimer and concertina, Isa Simon, fiddle and vocals; Joseph Sobol, contemporary cittern (related to guitar); and Ambrose Verdibello, fiddle and guitar.
