MILLERTON — Railroad Plaza will transform into a “Festival of Frights” on Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Families, businesses and community members are invited to a trunk-or-treat celebration, where participants decorate their vehicles and hand out treats to children in costume. The event provides a convenient way for children — especially in rural areas — to enjoy trick-or-treating without long walks on dark roads.

The celebration is a partnership between the NorthEast-Millerton Library, the Irondale Schoolhouse and the Millerton Business Alliance. Festivities will include costume contests, candy and more, with free chili and hot dogs provided by the Schoolhouse.

The event will take place at 16 Main St., Millerton, NY, rain or shine.

Register to decorate a trunk

Community members who want to decorate a trunk and hand out candy must register in advance. A Google Form is available on the library’s website. Participants are expected to decorate their vehicle and provide their own treats for trick-or-treaters.
