AMENIA — Despite the rain that drew comment from adult visitors to Trunk or Treat at Beekman Park on Sunday, Oct. 29, the smallish ghosts, goblins and several witches wearing black paid no notice to the weather.

They were intent on filling their bags with treats.

The event was sponsored by the Amenia Parks and Recreation Department that had arranged for local volunteer organizations to join in the fun of dispensing treats.

A major presence at the event was The Intruder, a purple character known to children and brought to animated life by the chairman of the Recreation Commission for that one afternoon.

Katie Sterk-Grassi, town recreation director, said that the attendance had been good and that she was pleased to have counted 11 trunks participating in handing out treats, one even blowing large bubbles.
