Indian Rock Schoolhouse Community Day coming up Sunday

AMENIA — The annual Indian Rock Schoolhouse Community Day, celebrating local history and community, will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Activities will include local craft vendors, children’s crafts, animals, games, live music, a pie-baking contest, Touch-a-Truck and a raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses. Hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available.

New this year is a tour of the “haunted schoolhouse.”

A “Bark-b-que” chicken dinner will be available for an $18 donation. The dinner is sponsored by Bleu’s K9 Rescue Inc. and Upstate Pups of New York.

The Indian Rock Schoolhouse is at 25 Mygatt Road in Amenia.

Performing his 14th annual organ concert at the historic Smithfield Church on Sunday, Sept. 20, renowned New York Philharmonic organist Kent Tritle put the church’s 1893 two-manual, seven-stop tracker organ through its paces with a repertoire spanning five centuries. The concert was to benefit the New York Oratorio Society where Tritle serves as Music Director.
