Amenia’s annual Harvest Festival will celebrate its second year of family fun with expanded activities. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
East Main Street (Route 343, east of the traffic light) between Fountain Square and Mechanic Street will be alive with food, music, and a variety of vendors. Watch for a magician roaming through the crowd to delight children, along with a Bounce House and face painting.
Adults will enjoy a variety of vendors, food trucks, local organizations, music, bingo — new this year — and a repair café. Residents are invited to bring items needing repair to an area near the library. Experts will be on hand to mend clothing, repair small lamps, bicycles or small home appliances. The town’s fire departments, always a popular feature, will have their grills operating. Businesses located along the street will be offering a variety of their own ways to participate.
Organizers indicate that the event is intended to bring the community together simply to have fun and enjoy a common experience in the company of one another. The event is planned and run by a committee of volunteers.
