AMENIA — Progress on construction of the new town garage and salt shed continued as the Town Board approved expenditures at its regular meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16.
Now in its pre-construction phase, the town garage project received 11 bids for preliminary grading and site preparation work. By unanimous vote, the Town Board approved the bid of $227,281 as recommended by CPL Architects and Engineers for the project and awarded the contract to the lowest bidder, William J. Keller and Sons Construction of Castleton, New York.
In other action related to the town garage project, the Town Board unanimously voted to acquire required services of an inspector to oversee the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. The plan requires weekly inspections. Three proposals were received, with Rennia Engineering Design of Dover Plains submitting the successful low rate of $250 per week after an initial payment of $1,600.
Public hearing on budget
The annual public hearing on the preliminary budget for 2026 was scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Town Hall, beginning at 7 p.m.The proposed budget is posted on the town website.
