Public forum on Flock cameras set for September

Dutchess County’s top law enforcement officials will hold a public forum on their use of surveillance technology manufactured by Flock Safety on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Town Hall.

Protective order issued in former IMS athletic director’s sexual assault case

TORRINGTON — A judge issued a protective order Thursday, Aug. 27, in the criminal case against Maxwell Abendroth, the former Indian Mountain School athletic director and gym teacher charged with three felonies involving alleged sexual contact with a 15-year-old student.

The court identified the person protected by the order only by initials and did not disclose the individual’s relationship to Abendroth or the pending case.

MILLERTON – Five student films on little-known aspects of history were shown at The Moviehouse in Millerton Thursday, Aug. 27.
Rhonan Mokriski, a history teacher at Salisbury School, introduced the films, which were from the 2026 Troutbeck Symposium, held at the Troutbeck hotel complex in Amenia.

“Hamilton in Salisbury” by Rocco Famularo, a student at Salisbury School, used primary sources and some detective work to establish that Alexander Hamilton did in fact have a connection to Salisbury.

MILLBROOK — The annual Lakeville Open Horse Show brought riders and equine enthusiasts to Riga Meadow at Coole Park Farm in Millbrook on Sunday, Aug. 30, for the 69th annual fundraiser hosted by the Lakeville Pony Club.

Horses and ponies with names like Pop Tart, Trigger and The Great Gatsby competed under a late-August sun, with ribbons and prizes distributed to riders of varying experience levels.

Original play packs Amenia Town Hall theater

The long-anticipated “Amenia’s Spycatcher” received enthusiastic applause following the opening night performance on Friday, Aug. 21. Written and directed by local resident George Bistransin, and sponsored by the Amenia Historical Society, the three-act play captured a thread of the town’s Revolutionary War history, while bringing the 21st-century community together.

AMENIA — Colonial history came to life last weekend as local resident George Bistransin presented a play he wrote, Amenia’s Spycatcher, about some of Amenia’s early residents.

The obstacles he had to overcome to put on the production were daunting despite the fact that he was backed by a $15,000 grant.
