DOVER — Dutchess Public Works completed a bridge replacement on Old State Route 22 in the town of Dover on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The bridge spanned the Swamp River between Jordyn Lane and Sherman Hill Road. Crews replaced the structure with a wider bridge including 4 foot shoulders and wider traffic lanes to match the road.

The new bridge is about 3 feet higher than the old structure to reduce the risk of flooding as storms become more intense and frequent.
